Project Update 3/23/18: Galway Sweater

Hey everyone, sorry for not updating in such a long time! I have been knitting a lot but too busy with school to keep up with this blog.

Right now I’m working on a lavender sweater for my sister as a gift for her high school graduation. I copied the pattern from an issue of Interweave Knits.

I’m going to make it 4-5 inches shorter on the bottom, since my sister likes slightly cropped shirts.

This is what I have so far:

I’m really loving the cables on this pattern!

I’m using a basic acrylic yarn, one of the Caron one pound balls. I usually prefer wool or cotton to acrylic, but one of my professors had some extra yarn and offered me some, which of course I couldn’t refuse!

P.S. I’ve been carrying my projects around in this adorable canvas bag from my favorite yarn store, Yarn in Montpelier VT. Check them out if you live in the area!

Practice Sweater Update

Hi everyone! I’ve made some progress on that practice raglan sweater I’ve been working on.

As I suspected before, the collar is way way too big, but honestly it doesn’t matter that much. I’ll either take it in after the sweater is finished, or I’ll unravel the sweater and redo it. Either way, I just want to get the sweater done because it’s mainly for practice and to make sure I can really do it.

As you can see, this is also for practice doing yarn overs and lace knitting.

I’m also working on some other lace practice, so keep an eye out for my post about that!
